Whether standing in a pulpit preaching the Word of God or serving food to those in need on a city street, the assignment of Pastor Quentin Q. Byrd is unmistakable. Accepting God’s call to ministry at age of 15, Pastor Byrd’s heart connects with people of all ages. His practical, yet empowering teaching style leads them into a loving, intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pastor Byrd was raised in the heart of Atlanta by a single mother and educated at both Huntingdon College (Bachelor of Science, Business Management) and the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) Morehouse School of Religion (Master of Divinity). His life embodies 1 Timothy 1:12 which states, “I thank Christ Jesus for our Lord, who has given me the strength to do His work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve Him.”

Pastor Byrd and his bride, Dr. Consuela Byrd have had a longstanding relationship with Freewill Missionary Baptist Church. For many years, Pastor Edward J. Nettles, Sr. has been more than a pastor and mentor to Pastor Byrd. God knitted the lives of these two men together in such a way that Pastor Nettles serves as the surrogate and spiritual father to Pastor Byrd. During his early years at Freewill, Pastor Byrd served as the Youth Pastor. In 2013, the Byrd family relocated to Birmingham, Alabama where God continued to use Pastor Byrd both in the corporate sector as well as in ministry.

During his tenure in Birmingham, Pastor Byrd served as Chief Ministry Officer of The Worship Center Christian Church where he provided oversight and developed ministry operations and initiatives. Also, he was instrumental in developing ministry leaders, such as Pastors, Ministers, and Deacons, through The Worship Center’s Leadership Academy School of Ministry.

At the request of Pastor Nettles, the members of Freewill, and the leading of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Byrd and his family returned to Freewill on Sunday, July 5, 2020, as the 4th Senior Pastor to the Freewill Family.

Today, Pastor Byrd, Dr. Byrd, and their three children, Gabrielle (Gabby), Jeremy, and Bryson are honored to serve as the First Family of Freewill Missionary Baptist Church.
